An Integrated Late Pleistocene to Holocene Tephrostratigraphic Framework for South‐East and East Asia

Volcanic ash has been widely used as unique independent marker horizons for dating and synchronizing paleoenvironments archeological records. Here, we report a series of key widespread late Pleistocene to Holocene tephras from lake sequence in southern China that have significant potential paleoenvironmental records East Asia. Translatitudinal paleoclimatological, paleoenvironmental, correlations the tropical Philippines, mainland China, midlatitude Japan are achievable through these extensively distributed tephras, including synthetic studies Younger Dryas mid-Holocene climate events. Additionally, establish refined ages four pre-1991 Pinatubo eruptions date three Luzon based on age model, which will facilitate future volcanic eruptions’ forcing change. Our results highlight hazards around densely populated Asia, bring solutions resolving uncertainty synchronization rapid events across region.
